Windshield trim removal

Anybody know how to remove windshield trim? I've heard that a special tool is needed to release the clips, but I'm not sure if that applies to all cars. My car is an '84 Monte Carlo SS. I just don't want to gouge it up. Thanks!

I honestly don't know on the newer than musclecar ones, but on mine you need a pretty cheap tool. It looks a little like a butterfly with small hooked ends that you slide down under the molding to release it:
