This site

Minnesota Motorhead is a blog spotlighting classic and high-performance automobiles in Minnesota.

Stock and modified domestic vehicles from the ’30s through the muscle car era are a focus here, but you’ll find earlier traditional rods and the occasional late-model or import story, too.

The site is updated regularly with feature stories, videos, Minnesota auto events and services. There’s also a forum to share your automotive knowledge with motor-minded people across the state.

The author

I’m Jake Weyer, a car fanatic, local newspaper reporter and the guy who runs Minnesota Motorhead.

I live in Minneapolis and work full time as an assistant editor and reporter for the Southwest Journal.

I spend my free time working on and driving my ‘84 Monte Carlo SS, going to car shows, talking to Minnesota auto enthusiasts and writing about their stuff for this site. I’ve also written for Corvette Fever magazine.

I started this site because Minnesota’s car culture is incredible.

Sure, winter is the dominant season here, but that just means there’s more time to get our hands dirty. And when the snow melts, Minnesotans hit the road, savoring every moment of nice weather in a way car folks from most other states just can’t understand.

Minnesota hosts some huge shows such as the Minnesota Street Rod Association’s Back to the ’50s and regularly turns out cars that gain national attention in big-name magazines such as Car Craft and Hot Rod. Car Craft’s annual street machine event, the Car Craft Summer Nationals, is also held right here in Minnesota.

A car community like Minnesota’s deserves some extra attention, and that’s what this site is all about. I hope you enjoy it. See you on the road!

Cruisin’ in the Monte.
